City Council Approval

We’re pleased to report that the City of Toronto has approved our proposal for the long-term future of the Jane Finch Mall site.

We would like to thank all the local Jane Finch community members who actively participated in shaping this plan by sharing their ideas and hopes for the future.

For over two and a half years, we engaged with more than 2,000 local Jane Finch community members on the future of the Jane Finch Mall site. This visioning and engagement process, initiated by the long-term owners and known as jfm+, included over 35 community organizations from a range of sectors, many with deep roots in the community.

The approved plan reflects what we heard from the community and proposes long-term, incremental changes to the site that will unfold over the coming years, including new homes, shops and services, community spaces and parks for current and future residents.

Changes won’t happen right away. Intensive work will continue on planning, with initial development envisioned in phases along Finch Avenue. During the first phase of development, the Mall will remain operational in its current configuration for many years. Throughout all phases of development, the Mall will continue to serve as a central hub for community activity.

This will be a long process, and we will continue to engage with the community and share project updates on jfmplus.ca as they unfold.
